There are around 32 million cars on UK roads in 2012 and the Industry generates around 50 billion pounds. The only UK car manufacturers left are Aston Martin, Bentley, Daimler, Jaguar, Lagonda, Land Rover, Lotus, McLaren, MG, Mini, Morgan and Rolls-Royce. Although many foreign companies have huge investments within these companies.
In the 1950's UK was the second largest car producer after the US however German, French and Japanese imports are now commonplace on British roads. The UK produces around 1.3 million Passenger vehicles and around 180,000 commercial vehicles.
Engines and engineering exports are still vibrant.
Nearly 1 million people are employed directly and inderectly in the industry.
